6th International Dermato-Epidemiology Association Congress, August 26-28 2012

Dear Colleagues and Friends

Welcome to Malmö, a city of southern Sweden on the Öresund opposite Copenhagen. Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden and the commercial centre of southern Sweden. The city has been an important trade and shipping center since the Hanseatic period. Approximately 300.000 people live in Malmö at the centre of the Öresund Region with around 3.5 million inhabitants.

The Danish capital Copenhagen is less than half an hour away and connected by a mighty bridge which opened in 2000. Trains run from the Copenhagen airport (Kastrup) three times in an hour to Malmö Center station.

The ancient city of Lund with the famous university founded in 1666 is another place close to Malmö. Today, Lund University is the largest centre for research and higher education in Scandinavia with seven faculties, science centres and special university colleges. More than 34.000 students are enrolled at the University, of which 3.200 are graduate students.

It is therefore a pleasure to have the 6th International Dermato-Epidemiology Association congress here in Malmö.
The theme of this Congress is “Prevention of disease”. The meeting is preceded by a half day IDEA Course run by Sinéad Langan and Ignaçio Garcia-Doval.
The meeting will start with some key lectures. The second part of the congress is organized in four main sessions: Skin cancer, Atopic dermatitis, Occupational dermatitis/Contact allergy and Psoriasis. The European Dermato-Epidemiology Network (EDEN) and its counterpart the American Dermato-Epidemiology Network (ADEN) organize the meeting together with the local organizing team in Malmö. This meeting is a small and focused meeting dedicated entirely to Dermato-Epidemiology. Nevertheless it is a World Congress in dermatoepidemiology, under the auspices of the International Dermato-Epidemiology Association.
